SABA Newsletter

August 4, 2019

Dear Bonsai People,

This will be the  last email from me before the notice for the AGM in October 2019. My two years as President of SABA certainly never had a dull moment.  It came with lessons not even my training could have prepared me for. It took so much time that I don't have any bonsais left, only bushes.  I am looking forward to getting back to my trees.  I wish you and SABA all the best for the future. Bonsai in South Africa is at a cross road and I hope in the end, there can be a place for all, not just a select few.

As you know, I will not be able to attend the AGM, as my faculty is hosting a conference ( and being one of the organizers I cannot take leave. With that in mind, please send me (to

1.  Items for the agenda;

2.  Nominations for Lifetime Achiever Awards;

3.  Nominations for the EXCO in the following positions: President, Vice President and Secretary;

4.  I need someone to take over the website from me. I will not be able to continue to look after it. If you are willing and able, please put your name forward. I would like this to happen before I leave the committee in October.

Wishing you all the best for the future and may bonsai continue to make you feel great!

Kind regards,

Caroll Hermann

(SABA: President)
